    Class of 58 Scholarship

    May 20, 2009

    To the Community Scholarship Committee
    c/o Mrs. Marie Warnke
    680 Albion Terrace
    Teaneck, New Jersey 07666

    Dear Marie,

On behalf of the Teaneck High School Class of 1958 Reunion Committee, I am delighted to present you with two checks which total $5100. These funds come from a combination of moneys left over from our Fiftieth Class Reunion which we held in October of 1958, and additional funds raised to make a scholarship donation from various members of our class. We hope that this money will give valuable assistance to Teaneck High School students who have financial need and who are attending college in the fall. When we thought about how we wanted the money distributed, we considered two options: one, we could distribute the lump sum to a range of students for the coming year only and thus have no carryover for the coming years, or two, we could distribute $1000 per year for the next five years, until we hold our next formal reunion.

We could not come up with a decision, so we leave it up to you. We recognize the truly stringent economic times faced by many of our graduating seniors this year as well as the fact that donations to the Community Scholarship Fund may have fallen off this year, so we are perfectly happy to have all of the moneys dispersed this year. If, on the other hand, you feel that the Scholarship Committee would like to keep some of these funds in reserve for the future, you can distribute the funds as I suggested above. We leave it to your knowledge of the needs and the circumstances you face.

It is our great pleasure, in either case, to be able to donate these funds and to give students an opportunity to further their educations in the coming years.

Let us know what your final decision is when you make it.

    Sincerely yours,
Alice Jacobs Twombly, Class of 1958,
    for Barbara Bogert Wahlberg.
