    50th Reunion Weekend
The 50th Reunion weekend (October 10-12, 2008) of the Class of ’58 was magical. Eighty-three classmates returned to Teaneck for the event, the farthest distance traveled was from Germany. The weekend festivities began with a get-together dinner at the River Edge Dinner on Friday night. Saturday morning saw about 60 sleepy classmates assemble at the High School for a 2 hour, eye-opening, tour of the greatly revamped facility, led enthusiastically by long-time THS teacher, Alice Jacobs (Twombly).
The gym, auditorium, cafeteria remain unchanged but the football field has been reoriented to now run parallel to Route 4. A tribute plaque to Mr. Charles Gunner (with his picture still missing!) and a plaque acknowledging the generous $105,000 scholarship endowment donation of our classmate, David Rosenbloom were hung in the main hall. After the tour, many hungry classmates migrated to Bischoff’s, yes it is still there almost unchanged, for lunch, ice cream and more reminiscing.
The Reunion Banquet at the Clinton Inn, Tenafly, was outstanding. Our Chairperson Barbara Bogert Wahlberg arranged every detail from the table flowers to the DJ playing our favorite 50’s hits. John Aselta’s memory board and paraphernalia, as always, brought tears to our eyes and warm memories to our hearts of our wonderful formative years at Teaneck High School. Father Gregory (Frank Battafarano) gave an ecumenical prayer and remembrance for those Classmates who have passed away.
Bill Pashe read the Class tribute to Mr. Joseph Cervino, teacher and coach. Mr. Cervino then thanked the Class for his tribute which was most heartfelt. Barbara Bogert Wahlberg gave a detailed summary of our formative years at Teaneck High and Bill Hardy followed this by giving “random thoughts of the 50 years since graduation.” We laughed, talked, ate, danced, laughed, ate, talked, talked and talked until the wee hours! MAGIC!!!

Sunday morning saw about 40 sleepy happy classmates assemble at the Wahlberg’s lovely home for a delicious brunch. We owe a great deal of thanks to Barbara for her tireless efforts and great organizational skills for planning a perfect 50th reunion. She was assisted by the reunion committee consisting of: Susan Custer, Co-Chair, John Aselta (memorabilia), James McCall (logistics), Richard Noroian (classmate data entry), Alice Jacobs Twombly (high school tour & scholarship), Peter Knudsen (photography), Susan Wignall Hardy (logistics and HS tour press), Bill Hardy (reunion program and website).

“When is the next reunion?” This question was heard all weekend. Although not decided as of this writing, some have suggested in 2 years. We will post upcoming reunion plans on this site as well as more pictures from anyone who wished to submit. So keep in touch by visiting THS58.com periodically.

    Warm Regards- Bill Hardy
